Session 04 · The stakes

Nine and a half minutes. One build.

One week after the visit, every team comes back with answers. Here is what today is made of.

6teamsEvery team pitches

Trainer, scoper, builder — all three of you on your feet.

9:30eachSeven thirty, then two

Seven thirty to pitch. Two minutes of questions from the room. Then the room scores you.

4criteriaScored one to ten

Storytelling ability · preparation · understanding of the problem · feasibility of the solution.

1builds itThe room decides

The team the room scores highest gets the follow-up call with David — and builds the solution.

Five minutes became nine and a half. The vote became a rubric. The winner still builds it.
Session 04 · What you are solving

One buy, across the counter.

This is the process as it runs today — every step by hand. Point at the arrow your team is fixing.

Session 04 · What we judge

Four criteria. Four unasked questions.

Scored one to ten by everyone in the room except your team. Each one is an answer to a question David is holding and will not ask.

1Storytelling ability
Earns it

A hook in the first twenty seconds. One idea per beat. The thing shown, not described. It earns its minutes.

Loses it

A tour of everything you thought of — "the temptation is to cram twenty minutes into five."

AnswersIs this going to waste my morning?
2Preparation
Earns it

Rehearsed to time. A backup story ready if the demo dies. December answered before anyone asks.

Loses it

Running over. Reading the slides. Finding out in front of us that the demo does not work.

AnswersWhat happens to it in December?
3Understanding of the problem
Earns it

The one branch that hurts most, in his words. Genuine pain, not theoretical inconvenience.

Loses it

A solution looking for a problem. Your summary of what he said instead of what he said.

AnswersDo these people understand MY business?
4Feasibility of the solution
Earns it

What it plugs into that he already runs. What you would not touch. Who keeps it alive.

Loses it

A rebuild of everything. A tool that only works with you standing next to it.

AnswersWhat is this actually going to cost me?
Session 04 · How scoring works

It pops up on your laptop.

a drawing — the real one pops up on your laptop
1
Everyone scores — except the team

When a team finishes, the card appears on every laptop but theirs. Nobody grades their own pitch.

2
Score any team, any time

Open connect-ai.world/rubric, pick the team from the list and send it. Go back and change a score, or catch up on a team you missed, until the competition closes. The comment is anonymous to the team — write one they can use.

3
The leaderboard at the end

Averages per criterion, the overall, and the team the room scored highest — which gets the follow-up call and builds it. Your team’s results post to connect-ai.world/teams tonight.

Session 04 · The order

Six teams. Order drawn live.

Every team named itself. Nobody knows who goes first — we draw the next team right before each pitch, and you get seven thirty from the moment you stand up.

Thank you.

Six teams stood up in front of a room and were judged by it. Nobody got to hide behind a slide, and everybody had to say what they would actually build. That is the whole job.

Your team’s scores and the comments the room left you go up at connect-ai.world/teams tonight.
Now go build it.
